We first came across the_house_acc on Instagram when we were looking for a kitchen with amazing cement effect tiles - and when we found this kitchen we fell in love. We really liked the mix of the industrial effect floor mixed with the deep blue units and light worktops, it felt so bright whilst having an industrial edge to it.

The rest of the house is amazing too - with some gorgeous interiors throughout which is perfect for this young family.

The lovely Robyn from the_house_acc, took some time out to chat to us about her renovation and share what she loves about her home now its finished! Head over to the account on Instagram if you want to see even more photos of this gorgeous house, plus there are also some fab DIY tips as Robyn is very creative (check out the pallet wall in the kids bedroom below)!

The deep blue kitchen with the cement effect tiles that we love

Tell us about your renovation project?

We have extended the ground floor to include a larger kitchen, and have added on a utility room, an office nook and downstairs shower room. We have also extended the first floor to add on a 4th bedroom with walk in wardrobe and en-suite.

Our home is a 1970's property so after the extension, we also gave the exterior a makeover by rendering part of the front too.

We love the double sinks in the master bathroom

How would you describe your style?

I find it hard to define my style as I like so many period features but with a modern element. I like industrial vibes but not too much, a good balance between rustic and modern I’d say.

The beautiful master bedroom - we love how the colour scheme flows through the whole house

What was the biggest challenge during your renovation?

I can’t pinpoint the biggest challenge, the whole thing was a challenge! Renovating a home whilst living in it with 2 small children is tough. I’m sure anyone undergoing similar works would agree that it’s stressful from start to finish. Our kitchen took the most planning. We spent months designing it, but I’m so glad we put all the work in then as I wouldn’t change a thing.

The impressive rear exterior with the double storey and kitchen extension - the large double bi-folds let the light flood in

Did you have a renovation hero?

Our renovation hero’s were our builders, Lukas & Lukas from Slovakia. They couldn’t do enough for us. If we weren’t happy they’d change something no problem. They worked long hours and weekends. I’d like to think of them as our friends now. All round lovely guys, and their quote for the build was a fraction of other quotes we’ve had.

We love the kids bedroom with the pallet feature wall!

What was your biggest indulgence in your new home?

A major splurge for us was our kitchen tap from Perin & Rowe. It was on the pricey side but I’ve never regretted it.

That tap!

What would be your advice to anyone about to start a renovation project?

My advice to anyone starting a reno would be..... just know from the beginning it’ll be stressful but just take your time and don’t rush decisions.
