This week's renovation tour is featuring @life_at_number17 on Instagram, and is one of the most spectacular renovations out there - what was a small and tired two bed bungalow has been transformed into a spacious family home.
The location in Cornwall is just perfect with the light and bright decor reflecting the beautiful coast, while the extension on the second floor maximises the views onto the stunning countryside.
We chat to Georgina who shares with us her renovation story and some wonderful tips for anyone starting out.

Can you tell us about your home and renovation project?
We bought a two bedroom bungalow in Helston, the previous owner was a hoarder and so the bungalow had seen better days! As my husband is an architect, he got planning approved for the renovation which included enlarging the drive, allowing us to incorporate the garage in the renovation, replacing the roof with a higher pitch and a modern wrap round flat roof extension with a parapet detail to create a five bedroom family home with master suite and utility, the 5th bedroom is used as a gym. Once the renovation was complete we started work landscaping the garden.

What attracted you to a bungalow renovation and were there any particular challenges?
It was my mother in law that showed us the property, as we had viewed it before for them! We loved the street that this was on as it’s so close to our daughters school, so we moved quickly and offered the asking price.
We didn’t have any big challenges other than having two young children, we had to live with my in-laws and were also planning our wedding. It was a stressful year to say the least. The build went smoothly though!

Did you have a budget and how did you stick to it?
We had a budget of £105,000 and we ended up spending £128,000. We had a brilliant builder on board who helped us to manage the spend and we had monthly meetings to discuss where we could save money and where we should be spending it, my husband did a lot of work himself to help save money.

What are you most proud of?
We are proud of the fact we’ve managed to create a lovely family home, from a design aspect the rear of the house gives the wow factor that we wanted, with the front retaining the existing bungalow style.

Where is your favourite place in your home now?
Our favourite place is definitely our open plan kitchen/living/dinning area, it’s the heart of our home and once the bifold doors are open it really brings the outside in!

Would you do another renovation?
We would absolutely do another renovation, but at the moment we are currently exploring development outside of our current home as we are happy living here for now.
