Before you go ahead and choose your bathroom lighting, make sure that your light fitting will be safe to use in the bathroom. 

Where there is water in close proximity to electricity, you must ensure that your light fitting meets regulations that can be safely used in the bathroom.

Light fittings are given a two digit IP number and it is the second of the two numbers that indicates it's protection against moisture, with 0 no protection and 8 submersed in water. 

For a bathroom wall light which is within 0.6 metres from the tap, you should look for an IP44 rating which offers protection against splashing.
